Well, I know this post will disappear once the site is ported over to the new server, but let me pass on a few interesting links:

An excerpt of Clarence Thomas’ speech in the Wall Street Journal, How to Read the Constitution: “Let me put it this way; there are really only two ways to interpret the Constitution — try to discern as best we can what the framers intended or make it up.” Well worth a read.

Anti-gun policies have always failed to reduce crime, and the latest study confirms this yet again as reported in an article called Gun shows do not increase homicides or suicides: “A new study finds no evidence that gun shows lead to substantial increases in either gun-related homicides or suicides. The University of Michigan and University of Maryland study also shows that tighter regulation of gun shows does not appear to reduce the number of firearms-related deaths.”

How American motherhood ruined my life is an interesting piece by Janice Turner juxtaposing the American and British approach to parenting. I love comparing things on either side of the pond, so it’s a fun read: “What is so vital about America, what makes it so thrilling as a nation, is the deep-rooted belief that everything can be improved, transformed and – with enough ingenuity and effort – perfected.”

I’ve been into transhumanist ideas for quite a while, and there’s now a monthly online publication out with its first issue, H+ Magazine: “Clearly transhumanists have some work to do, if the idea that humans may be on the verge of self-directed evolution is to become common currency.” Is H+ the answer?

And finally, this is why I love living here, drive-thru voting in Southern California. Drive-thru Democracy: “Culturally, drive-through voting makes sense in the land of In-N-Out Burger…”
