Batman: how good is it really?

Dark KnightRotten Tomatoes is spiking at an unusually high 91 percent rating for The Dark Knight.

But how much of all this is bullshit, generated by the hype surrounding the fact that a dead guy is starring as the Joker? I know it isn’t very reverent to say so, but I didn’t know Heath Ledger and feel no way in particular about his death; all I care about is being entertained for an hour and a half. Ledger’s performance is coloring the way this film is reviewed, and I’m not sure that’s very legitimate.

How good is The Dark Knight, really, Heath or no Heath? Find out this Friday when it opens in theaters everywhere.

Did you hear that they’re considering giving Heath Ledger an Oscar? Do you think they would have considered him for the award if he hadn’t died?

Hey John, I just got back from watching this and my view is that the film is possibly the best of the Batman series, although a bit too long for me. As for Heath Ledger - his performance as the Joker was fantastic, topping Jack Nicholson’s portrayal a few years back. Of course, as with any character it;s not all the genius of the actor - the writing, the direction, hell even the make-up department all help make any performance great. Worthy of an Oscar? Who knows the rhyme or reason why certain Oscars are given out. All I can say is that he played the role fantastically well.
