Air terror plot foiled

THIS is what we pay our governments to do. THIS is the reason we have government at all. And THIS was the government doing a terrific job in its primary role as protector of its citizens.

Just last night I was at the first day of Oliver Stone’s World Trade Center, a remarkable movie about the events of 9/11, a patriotic film, a movie that just begs for the most severe retaliation against Al Qaeda, in my opinion. I came home, went to bed and woke up several hours later to this morning’s news of the terror plot. I’m not going to rehash all of the emerging details of this story: that’s the job of the mainstream media. Suffice to say that all freedom-loving people need to appreciate the role of British intelligence and law enforcement agencies at this point; their vigilance has shown us that terrorism can be curtailed and that these bastards can be stopped.

UPDATE 10:12am:
Roger Hedgecock of KOGO in San Diego just came on the air and cited some sources which stressed the importance of the fact that there were no leaks to the press about this investigation before today. Any leaks would have alerted the perpetrators that the police were on their tail. As Roger said profoundly: “This is the first major defeat for the New York Times in the war on terror.

Ouch.

It is dificult to decide which of two possibilities is preferable. That the security forces are right or that they are wrong. Lets pe frank, we have no reason to expect the security forces to be any more right on this than they were with Jean Charles de Menezes, or at Forest Gate. A significant proportion of the British public fear that our emotions are being toyed with in a political game that has a congenital idiot as its figure head – and I really don’t put it past those PNAC psychos to do this kind of stuff. The other option is that some other psychos were going to blow up some planes. If that’s true, then the neocons like Ried have just been handed an open goal, and we’re all going to suffer big time. Ried already thinks that civil liberties are for woosies, we should all be violent morons like him – it’s the only way. The problem lies with simple minded (I’m being kind here) politicians, who see the world in black and white. for them there is only one way, and that is to escalate the violent response because they and only they are right. The frightenning thing is that whatever happens they will take it as justification for their staggering hubris.

    Theorist-

Thanks for your input but I’m fairly sure that this news is for real; nobody sensible is really disputing that, I don’t think.

I like how your post on this emphasized the fact that on this occasion the British government was doing it’s job! Maybe theorist is right, they’ve got to have screwed something up!! Congratulations to the team that got the bad guys.

Thanks Quinney. By the way, for an interesting, though aggravating discussion on this topic, see the discussion at Will & Testament, here. You’ll see I contributed a few times in frustrated tones. I’m better now.
