Obviously global warming is occurring and obviously it is occurring now and obviously it is occurring as a result of human activity and if we don't do something about it our children will pay the consequences. I think you're a selfish bastard.

I agree with you John, this is scaremongering of a sort, and there just isn't enough data right now to support all the invasive policy changes we're being asked to endorse. I just wish the current U.S. administration weren't so willing to trade out common sense to pacify the Greens.

Norm- Our activity coming just the at the right point and just at the right volume to tip the scales toward unbalancing the entire climate is very convenient for their position. And what humans are doing is just as natural as what tigers or chimps are doing - we are all using resources to the benefit of our species. I simply don't believe that we need to panic - human industry is already well on its way to accomplishing all we are currently accomplishing while making our ecological impact irrelevant.

That's an interesting link on the Mount Pinatubo eruption. Although what the climatologists are saying is that our activity is small but enough to tip the scales to affect the climate. Volcanoes are natural, what we're doing isn't natural.

No, what scientists have said is that there is a confirmed greenhouse effect, that the planet has warmed an average of 1F over the past century, and that it is likely human industry is contributing. The rest is expositary. And in any case, as I say in this article, even if there is a runaway greenhouse effect taking place caused by human activity, I center my disagreement not on the facts of climate change but on the political response being advocated.

Ok, but how does that square with what most scientists are saying? Aren't most scientists saying that the world is warming up and that we are to blame? It seems like you just fly in the face of what the sensible people are saying.

Lindley- No, I'm saying that climate change is not occurring in such a rapid fashion that we need to get our pants in a twist about it... I'm also saying that it's far from clear that human beings have contributed significantly more to this instance of global warming than in any of the other episodes of climate change that we know occurred throughout the history of our planet.

In other words... people are scaremongering and we need to get some perspective on this. I don't disagree with the scientists.... I disagree with the politicians and the Left.

You are saying that global warming is not happening? How do you know better than the scientists who have spoken on this topic?
