Martin,
I’m afraid that I’m not entirely sure if we are living in the same world. The left was bound to fail, in every respect, for one simple reason that seems to have alluded you. People are not a collective - people are individuals. The left has denied the sovereignty of the individual since day one. That is why the left will always fail. The right will fail for other reasons. And that will leave libertarianism, a political system for a new dawn…. on that day we will own a wonderful realisation of one of the fundamental tenets of humanity - the ability of the rationality of the individual.
Until then, I see more optimism, more potential, more prospects, for the man or woman committed to building their own lives in this world, than ever before. We are at a great stage in history, and with the current rise of conservatism we are in a better position than we were in the 60s and 70s…. hence this degree in the rise of prosperity. Right is better than left, and liberty is better than both. Meantime I am glad the left has failed.
Yours sincerely,
John Wright
